Welcome to Olympian High! We are excited about building a partnership with you to support your student’s success.
Olympian’s mission is:
To guarantee that each graduate will qualify and be academically ready for success in a four year college or university.
We have crafted an academic literacy plan that focuses on students developing literacy skills to prepare for the demands of college. The literacy plan is a systematic instructional approach. The academic literacy plan received a Golden Bell award in 2008 by the State of California as an exemplary instructional program. The literacy plan has 3 components- Internalized Habits of Mind, Disciplinary Thinking in the Content Areas and Specifically Taught Academic Skills. This instructional approach puts Olympian High School “out front” of the national movement to teach content through the development of academic literacy skills.
Becoming college ready for all of Olympian’s students is indeed a challenge but one that our staff believes is possible given good instruction and support. We expect that our students will exhibit on a daily basis the following – Be positive, present and persistent. We know that when students practice these habits they are capable of amazing results.
Last year Olympian High School was recognized as one of the top 500 high schools in the United States and received the Gold Medal Ranking by U.S. World News and Report. Olympian also received recognition from the state of California by being identified as a 2015 Golden Ribbon School. Congratulations to Viana Rodriguez, U.S. History teacher, Peer Mediator Teacher, and Link Crew Coordinator who was selected as Olympian’s Teacher of the Year for 2014 and has been selected to compete as one of the county’s best teachers sponsored by the County Office of Education in their annual, “Salute to Teacher” recognition.
Olympian recently went through it’s second accreditation process. Under the leadership of Steve Rodriguez, WASC Coordinator, we received a 6 year term, which is the highest possible term awarded to schools.
Please feel free to call our counselors or Assistant Principals if you have any questions regarding our programs. Olympian is committed to working with parents to achieve success for every student.
Again, welcome to the Olympian community. It is a pleasure to have this opportunity to work with you and support student’s preparation for their future.
Eagles for Life.
